Workplace Computing

Workplace Computing is a programme that teaches more than just core computing skills! As each student progresses through the NZQA unit standards, they experience success and build confidence, in turn this develops a healthy work ethic.


Entry Requirements

The course FREE for those aged 18 years and over, who are registered with Work and Income New Zealand as a Job Seeker.

This programme has three focus areas for participants:

  • To assist learners into employment or further training
  • To increase numeracy & literacy ability
  • To enable learners to gain National Certificates in Computing and Business Administration (Levels 2 & 3) or units towards.

Workplace Computing teaches more than just core computing skills! It runs like a work place would,
encouraging Learners to;

  • develop good work practices like getting to work on time
  • respect for others and themselves and
  • job responsibility.

As each student progresses through  the NZQA unit standards they experience success and build confidence, in turn this develops a healthy work ethic. The tutor maintains a fun, family atmosphere to support  the learning process to be an enjoyable one.

  • Word processing
  • Spreadsheets
  • Internet and email
  • Database
  • Administration
  • Office systems
  • Basic accounting
  • Interpersonal communication
  • Literacy and numeracy assistance
  • CV writing
  • Work Experience

Class times: 

Mon to Thurs 8.00am to 4.00pm  for 26 weeks
(includes at least 1 day work experience/week)

Learner’s can start on the course at any time when vacancies exist.
